Bituin sa Bituin

Bituin sa Bituin

Sinulat ni Lucy Lombos

October 20, 2016

Bituin sa umaga
Hindi napapansin
Sa liwanang
Tila walang ningning.

Bituin sa gabi
Sa lalim ng kadiliman
Nagpapasikat, tila di rin nasisilayan
Nasaan ka’t di mo makita?

Mata mo ba’y naka piring?
Sa paglagas ng mga dahon, tutok
Buksan pusong kumakatok
Sa katahimikan lahat malalampasan.

Bituing nagbahagi ng kaliwanagan
Pagtuturo… Pagsusumikap…Pagtugon…
Salamat, mga bituing sumilang
Kayo ngayon mga bagong anyong kislap.

Morning Glory, My Friend

Long, freezing nights wane into spring
The newness of summer is exciting,
A joy to behold, a daily supply
Of Morning Glory, blooming
In abundance,
… the star of the generous, mini-garden.

Even when unfriendly days make scene
Morning Glory greets me in silence
Isn't she a friend? Lucky me!
With a subtle message
So inspiring,
… the chum who uplifts and gives hope.

Existing, full of life, flourishing vine
Listening to me, pampering me
With her beauty and presence;
When autumn and winter come
I wonder,
… the feel, will she still be there for me?

Murmurs of The Heart

Murmurs of The Heart

(The Sound of /ang/)

Raindrops fell in my heart … I felt a pang
Like a sailor, sensing the sea’s clean tang
Sick in heart; oh, the song! The mermaid sang
Sun ablazed; smile, get up with a bang.

The Best Dad Ever

By: Lucy Lombos
June 17, 2016

The best dad ever…
You've got dreamy eyes, toned muscles
Sexy moustache, biggie tummy…
Clowning daddy, sometimes funny!

The best dad ever…
Mathematics, science, music
Language, arts, religious notions
You’re a smart guy in motions.

In electronics, you are good!
Swimming, football, I guess better!
Yet the best of all, a lover
Oh, you are the best dad ever!

Happy Father’s Day 2016
and
to all dads all over the world!

Big Check

Big Check

By: Lucy Lombos
May 31, 2016

Last May 30, 2016, I was so glad to see my first ever Morning Glory flower amazingly and fully blooming after being naturally quiet for her month-long growth and survival. I was thankful and blessed for this little miracle which I excitedly called as such and lovingly cupped. I even took a photograph of it, shown here. And then, I thought that most probably God was sending a message to me but I wasn't able to discern His words at first.

True enough, Brother Edwin Cruz, Light of Jesus Feast Builder, emailed me and the rest of the event participants. It was a call for a follow-up meeting and a request to write a blog and share one’s experience after the “Awaken The Miracle In You” event, held at the Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada on May 28, 2016.

I could attest that the event, considered as a recollection (retreat for some), was a BIG CHECK for me. Implausible perhaps to other people but for me and the rest of the LOJers, based on my observation and belief, it was a grand success.

This event undoubtedly made me to contemplate and prompted me to say a big check because-

*** It was an event that couldn’t be explained by mere ordinary words and by natural or scientific laws.

*** It was such a wonder that one would think and feel ponderously that there was a supernatural deity, a moving Spirit behind such an inspiring and touching spiritual experience. Well in profound faith, it was God Himself who was behind the over-all event through the Feast Builders, Elders and Workers, especially the main Speakers and Volunteer-Members who were all prayer warriors.

*** Much esteemed as a retreat, it was extraordinarily reflective and conscience-stricken, leading a repentant sinner to go and receive the sacrament of confession. The Speakers were like prophets sent by God in the hope of salvation and repentance most especially this Year of Mercy and Compassion, proclaimed by the Church under the Pontificate of Pope Francis.

*** Everyone was roused and stimulated. Each one was called to be “miracle” workers and to be God’s greatest blessings to other people…  I thought it as violating the natural and established laws. Everything was attributed to the supernatural and to the MOST POWERFUL GOD who called us to do miracles, not deserving though yet in our humble ways.

*** It was characterized as a true and beneficial event with Divine Providence freely given to us. Just the laying of hands to the participants would be impossible without the sanctifying presence of the Holy Spirit who continuously works on us; and can I say even without us? I believe so.

*** It was indeed a MIRACLE for me. Big Godly check!

Wine

Wine

By: Lucy Lombos

Wine is like a poem...
In winning forms, aren’t they comparable?
Juicy grapes, cathartic thoughts invigorate
Vintage and imagery, sure they give a high.

Wine is like a woman...
Two is a company, don’t they improve with age?
Fermenting in years, the finest wine well-flavoured
Affirmatively by grace, a woman well-favoured.

Most worthy, wine is the blood of Jesus Christ...
Exaltedly, isn’t it changed with bread as His body?
Twain Eucharistic elements transubstantiated
Take the cup, give thanks, and drink from it.

Alive
Fresh and clean
From the familiar groove
Filled with zest for new life,
Lovelies of Mother Nature like me
Well, I like the season of spring the most
When lush greens grow together with me opulently
I flourish readily yet thrive elegantly in this time of the year
I am like a festival queen, reigning in the valley under the sun
I always make people smile, delight their eyes and inspire them best
I sometimes laugh, dance, and play with the rain, water of life and hope
I feel fancy coloured and blessed, set at the Creator’s majestic landscape
I give glory, grandeur and gramercy to our Almighty God in deep silence
Viewed utmost as a quiet communication and a spiritual connection
I am a world peace flower, far cry from the Skagit fever or craze
Living merrily with the other bunches of colours to mind
My fiat, responding to the Source of the breath of life
Seeing visitors tiptoe through
All the beds of
Flowers
Brings
A true
Bliss

Because April is Poetry Month...
The poem below is dedicated to my father and sister who like angels are now in heaven.

White

It’s like the photographers’ choice of background

In a foreign land with lily white people around me

The background is a terrain and mountain of snow

Wherever, fight, survive like a polar or a grizzly bear

There’s still a great white hope even for senior folks

I see age, wisdom and experience

No one can just white them out.

White.

My Cup Runneth Over

*My Victorian Birthday,
Orchids Wedding Anniversary
and
Easter Celebrations*
THANK YOU!

I flipped a page in the 2016 calendar, specifically spotting the special date- MARCH 26, 2016, my birthday! … And a sweeping question flashed into my mind. “How old are you?” I asked myself.

It’s funny and true that I don’t want to grow old by just counting the happy, memorable and challenging years of my existence. But it’s normal to count the number of years on Earth when birthday comes. Well, let me change it this time. Hmmm… not counting the age any longer because it doesn’t totally define me and I am not hemmed into the calendar. Now, it’s all about maturity and experiences in life, including the hard knocks which from thereon I obtained practical living, wisdom, mercy and blessings from the Lord.

Funny and true again- I am as young as the seed of the mustard and as fresh as the early morning of spring. Hence, I call myself  “SPRING-TIME-COME-ALIVE”. I really love the season of spring! For me, it is the time when I enjoy the beauty and scent of the flowers which are blooming everywhere. That’s a concrete sign of a new life… a beginning. It’s also the time when I clearly see the fine lines on my face, positively tracing where beaming smiles have been and where caring expressions have laid eyes on. :)

Furthermore, since March is my birthday month, please allow me to relay the message of the International Literacy Association (ILA) whereupon I’m a member for a long time. ILA officially announced that March is Women’s History Month. It is the time to recognize the great achievements of BOLD or COURAGEOUS women. Without being conceited, please consider me as one of them or I could be a silent worker only, a support or shadow to them. However, I assert my rights and I express myself, too for the welfare of other women, their children and their motherland(s) by teaching, by storytelling and by writing essays, stories, poems and songs.. In spirit, I also join in the celebration of the International Women’s Day every March 7, a day that not only highlights the contributions of women in all spheres but also calls the world’s attention to the disparity that still exists between men and women in society.

Personally, I am calling here the attention of the youth, most especially the young girls of today who can be potential leaders in the future. I believe in you. I was once just like you, an ordinary girl who tried to make a difference.

In a nutshell before this really takes long, I would like to take this opportunity to THANK YOU for all the touching, joyful and warm birthday wishes and prayers you gave and you sent me via the social media. Moreover, THANK YOU for remembering our 28th “Orchids” Wedding Anniversary and most of all, THANK YOU for the meaningful Easter greetings. Alleluia! Christ has risen!

With high hopes and good vibes coming from you, I’m inspired. I’m now living in the newness of life with my family. And with Lombosco Academy as my “baby”, I perpetuate first the love of God, then family, the school and the community. Taking this opportunity, in addition I promote my advocacies, to wit- Literacy, Character Building and Sustainability for our Environmental, Economic and Social growth.

All these make my “Birthday/Wedding Anniversary and Easter” (3-in-1) cup runneth over.
